New SYFF
- Welcome to the new South Yorkshire Funfairs Show/Hide Story

Welcome to the new version of South Yorkshire Funfairs, as you can see, it looks mostly the same, but some features have been upgraded to make the site meet the new 'Web 2.0' Standards.

They are of number of new features, some of these are listed below;

  1. Main Website
    1. This news viewer, which as you hopefully noticed expanded into view can also shrink back, so it doesn't obstruct the rest of the website. The news section has two different styles, if i'ts in red, it means it has been posted within the last few days, but if it's in grey, it means that its an old story.
    2. On the header above there is now a short text description describing the photo, where it is and when it was taken, there is currently 11 different header images, and you will see a different one when you go to a new page, but these havn't been changed since 2009, so I hope to add more to the list.
    3. You will notice that on the left side of the page there is 4 boxes, 'Site Links, 'Random Image', 'Newest Image', and 'Build Up', these all also use the show/hide feature that this news post uses, but these are all part of a group, you can only show one item at any time.
  2. Galleries
    1. The 'Fair Report' feature has been removed since no one used it, instead a new feature has been added, 'Find on Google' when clicked this will open a popup showing the location of the fair using Google Maps, which you can then zoom in and zoom out, or find directions to the fair from your house.
    2. The pagination of the galleries has been impoved, rather then waiting for the page to load when you go to the next page, it is now done dynamically and it changes instantly when you click the next page button, so no waiting.
    3. The image viewer has also been improved, before when you wanted to view an image, it loaded in a seperate popup window, this is now done dynamically and it brings the image into view in the current window, it is now easier to navigate through the images, you can either click the left or right side of the image to go backwards and forwards through the gallery respectivly, or, you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard to browse through the images, this should make gallery navigation a lot easier.
    4. Image comments have been removed, instead gallery comments will added.

There are still a number of things that I want to add during the next few weeks, these include

  1. Adding text descriptions to all images
  2. Adding an archive section, so when the galleries goes of the page (It currently only shows the first 10) it's not gone and there's a page with all the images listed.
  3. A view all gallery where all images in the site database can be seen.
